Twenty seven years in a high pressure deskbound office job left me stressed, sleep deprived and depressed. The impacts of my working life were showing up in my physical condition: poor posture, stiff body, low energy, regular headaches.
I always had the discipline to push myself hard but enjoyed no part of my exercise regime. It was just on my daily "to do" list - squeezing in intense gym sessions in an effort to relieve stress.
In my late fifties, following medical advice that a health breakdown was imminent, I took the radical decision to give up my career to prioritise my health. I qualified as a personal trainer in 2014, and as a yoga teacher in 2019.
My wife and I moved to Spain to run a retreat centre for five years where I taught yoga to our guests of all ages ranging from early 20s to late 70s, many of whom were seeking support to make positive changes in their lives.

Having returned to the UK for family reasons, I decided to qualify as a GP Exercise Referral Instructor. I am now able to work with people to manage a variety of health conditions including diabetes, osteoporosis, CHD, hypertension, obesity, arthritis, depression and anxiety.
My experiences of practising and teaching yoga have shown me that movement can be not only "doing" but also "allowing"
I adopt many different ways of working, of which yoga is one element.
Now working in Somerset, I help people achieve long term health and physical resilience with an approach based on consistency, moderation and body awareness.
I now prescribe many different types of exercise - tailored
to the individual.
